What we offer:
World Harvest Music School (WHMS) is offering private lessons for vocals and instruments including guitar, drums, piano/keyboard, saxophone, and flute. These one-on-one training sessions are held once a week.
In addition to private lessons, WHMS also includes General Music classes and a Leadership Track. These classes provide the students with well-rounded knowledge in music theory and how to best use their gifts for the kingdom of God.
WHMS is open to everyone starting at age ten upward. We only offer lessons to students under ten if they would like piano lessons.
Duration: A semester is 12 weeks long
Cost: $300 per semester
Frequency: 30 minutes per weekly lesson
WHMS Dean - Scott Jones has a great passion for worshiping God in music as well as creatively developing music groups and inspiring young people to use their talents to reach out to the lost. He has a Bachelor’s Degree in Percussion from Oral Roberts University and has been performing and teaching for over 23 years. Scott held the percussion and drum chair for the live television broadcast of the Richard Roberts show for two years, toured with the Christian group The Spurrlows, and has traveled throughout Europe and Asia ministering in music. He currently assists his wife Heather with the worship department at World Harvest Church and leads a street percussion group called “Deeper Impact.”
School Manager - Peter is a devoted educator with a Degree in Education from Mico Teachers College. There he majored in Social Studies and Library Science and, upon graduating, taught as his profession for over five years. Now Peter is using that education background to pass on the music skills he has developed over the past twenty five years. He is an accomplished keyboard player with studio experience and has also worked training vocalists and leading bands in Jamaica, London and the United States. Peter has played keyboard with artists Lester Lewis, Sis Scully, Sandra Brooks, Chevelle Franklin and Alvin Slaughter. Currently he is the band leader at World Harvest Church.
Worship Director of WHC - Heather Jones earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Vocal Performance from Oral Roberts University in 1990. Right after graduating she toured for a year with The Spurrlows, a Christian group that also performed for convention shows. Later Heather served as a worship leader for Safe House Outreach in Atlanta for 7 years and also sang in the professional classical ensemble “The Michael O’Neal Chamber Singers” several seasons. She has sung and traveled with the professional jazz quartet “South City Voices” and has had the opportunity to work on various studio recordings. Currently Heather is the Worship/Music Director at World Harvest Church
Guitar Teacher – Jonathan attended the School of the Symphonic Orchestra of Venezuela from 1997-98 where he studied privately jazz theory, harmony and composition under Miguel Hernandez. Jonathan has over 20 years of experience as a guitarist, 11 years playing professionally, and over 10 years as a guitar teacher. He has been a studio musician at J&J Records, Dreamhouse Records, and Sam Studios. Jonathan has been blessed with the opportunity to perform with many great ministers and artists, including Grammy award nominee Martha Munizzi. He is currently serving as lead guitarist at World Harvest Church.
Drums Teacher - Hutch’s first “official” drumming position was at Terrestrial Temple COGIC at the age of 9. A little later he relocated to Christ Temple Church in Indianapolis where he began to get offers to do studio work and play drums for the local mass choir. When Hutch moved to Atlanta he served at Crossroads International Christian Center as a teacher and Youth Pastor for “Muzik-4-Youth.” In this successful program, the main message was, “There is NOTHING you can’t do through Christ”! Kids were taken from not being able to play any instrument at all, to playing a small concert at a youth rally put together by local churches. Presently Hutch serves at World Harvest Church as a drummer and a member of the street-drumming ministry called “Deeper Impact”.
Piano/Keyboard/Acoustic Guitar Teacher - Priscila Santos received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Therapy from Catholic University of Salvador in Bahia, Brazil in 1999. In 1990 she started teaching Piano, Keyboard, and Acoustic Guitar at Nata Musical School of Music in Brazil. In America, she has been teaching private and group lessons since 2002 and taught Piano at Peggy Still School of Music in 2011 Priscila has been a licensed Kindermusik© Educator since 2009. She has served as a musician at Bethel Presbyterian Church, Brazilian Christian Church, Assembly of God Church in Sandy Springs, and World Harvest Church. For the Glory of God, she has been singing, dancing and teaching in most of the churches she served as a musician. Priscila speaks 3 languages (Portuguese, English and Spanish) fluently.
Piano and Bass Teacher - Robert began studying Piano and Bass in 1977, and is a professional musician that carries an impressive history of performing regularly, in studio and on stage. Possessing over twenty-two years of professional experience, Robert has performed in countless venues and in 2001, he began his music company, Paradox Iron Productions and Entertainment. Robert is also a professional singer and songwriter, and has worked alongside some of the industry’s finest players, performers, and producers. Robert’s most recent CD project “Let’s Try That Again” was released in 2013, via Paradox Iron Music, and can be found on iTunes, Amazon, and Spotify.With a strong desire to serve Christ through music, and to share his talents with others, Robert Meadows now brings his long-cultivated musical experience to the World Harvest Music School.
Saxophone Teacher - Tommy studied Music at Edward Waters College, Jacksonville, FL and has been teaching and playing professionally for over 35 years. Tommy has toured and/or recorded with many national recording artists such as BB King, The Temptations, and The Ojays, just to name a few. These tours took Tommy to practically every major city in the US as well as countless nations of the world. This November Tommy is looking forward to performing in Africa for the first time. He has been featured on radio (WCLK), television (Atlanta Jazz and Blues, In The Heat of The Night), The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, and had roles in such films as Stars and Bars, Freejack, and Fried Green Tomatoes.
Vision of the school:
a. Our goal is to reproduce musicians and worship leaders within our church with a drive and excitement to serve God with their gift by creatively reaching out to the lost and moving in God-directed worship to usher in His presence.
b. Music is a powerful language and can be used effectively to communicate the gospel to a lost and dying world. WHMS exists to establish solid biblical foundations, educate with excellence, and mobilize to ministry.
